Volkhart Vincentz until the end of November 2009 managing director of the Institute for East European Studies. He studied economics at the Universities of Mainz and Munich. After having graduated as "Diplom-Volkswirt" (advanced degree in economics) at the University of Munich, he was awarded a PhD at Boston University, USA. He wrote his thesis on the topic: "On the Stability of a Soviet Type Economy with Endogenous Plans".
For several years during the nineties, Volkhart Vincentz worked as an economic advisor for the Ukrainian government. He also gave political advice in Russia and Armenia. Being an associate of the Department of Economics, Migration and Integration, he has conducted numerous studies on technology policies, trade relations, and structural reforms in Eastern Europe for ministries and international organisations. He had teaching positions at the Universities of Munich, Regensburg and Berlin.
Currently, he is doing research on convergence processes in Central and Eastern Europe, integration within the enlarged EU, and structural reforms in the Ukraine and Russia.
